The BOT Resolution No. 96-08-17-04 series 1996 created the School of Engineering and Computer Science which offered degree and non-degree engineering and computer science programs as follows:

• 3-year Associate in Geology;

• Metallurgical Engineering;

• Geodetic Engineering;

• Mining Engineering and the

• 2-year Associate in Computer Science

These courses were offered in the school year 1996-1997 with a total enrollment of 118 students.  Bachelor of Science in Computer Science was offered the following year and enrolled 92 students. In that same year (SY 1997-1998), all the students in the Associate in Geology, Associate in Mining Engineering and Associate in Metallurgical Engineering shifted to the Geodetic Engineering program because they foresaw the great demand for Geodetic Engineers in the Region. The 2-year Diploma in Computer Software Applications was also offered to supply the demand for the computerization needs of the Region.

The rationalization of curricular programs in the year 2000 phased out three associate programs because of very low enrollment turn-out: the Diploma in Computer Software Applications was replaced with a 2-year Diploma in Computer Technology. The college was later renamed to the College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) and offered 4-year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program. In the same year, the college was also given recognition by the Commission of Higher Education as the Regional Nodal Center for Information Technology. Seeing its potentials, Senator Tessie Aquino-Oreta, also the chairperson of the Senate Committee in Higher Education, through her Countrywide Development Fund donated One (1) Million Pesos for the upgrading of the Information Technology facilities of the college. The National Computer Center, likewise, tapped the college as the region’s lead institution for Information Technology.

In 2001-2002, three (3) degree programs were offered: the 4-year Bachelor of Science in Mathematics major in Computer Mathematics, 5-year Bachelor of Science in Information and Telecommunication Engineering and 5-year Bachelor of Science in Geodetic Engineering.  Ref. Res. No. 05-06-05, s. 2006, BSITE program change the name to Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communication Engineering (BSECE). Upon the assessment of the curriculum, it was found that the future graduates of BSITE program are not considered eligible to take the ECE Licensure Examination since BSITE is not a registered program with the Philippine Regulation Commission (PRC).

At present, CEIT offered the following programs: 5-year Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering, 5-year Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communication Engineering, 5-year Bachelor of Science in Geodetic Engineering, 3-year Associate in Material Science Engineering, 4-year Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, 4-year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and 2-year Diploma in Computer Technology.

To address the current trends in curricular ladderization under EO 358 as called for the President of the Philippines, a ladderized interface was done to address the ladderization of different curricular programs of NORMISIST which will satisfy both the standards of TESDA as contained in the Training Regulations and the Policies, Standards and Guidelines of CHED.
